How do the Carpathians sound: How do the Carpathian rivers save from garbage?

What Ukraine sounds like is a completely new format, a musical journey. Musician and composer Yevhen Filatov (The Maneken, Onuka) collects the sounds of Ukrainian cities and creates a melody from them.

This is an online demonstration of the magic of creating a composition from random sounds performed by Evgeny Filatov. The third series is about the Carpathians! In it, we will learn: what sounds are rich in the Verkhovyn forest? How did a flock of sheep turn into an orchestra? Why should the Carpathian rivers be urgently saved? But do they actually play the bagpipes in the Carpathians?

In this series, the composer focused on the problem of the accumulation of household waste in the Carpathians.

“When we got here, we were very impressed by the beauty. And when we saw this garbage, we wanted to change something, we couldn’t just turn around and leave. And then we tried to organize friends,” says Olena Zhuk, founder of the Chysto.de movement.

“If every person comes and collects one bottle or one bag (garbage – ed.), you can imagine what a clean country we will have! – Says composer Yevhen Filatov.

“The water goes down very quickly (taking away the garbage, – ed.) and it gives the illusion of solving the problem. But in reality, garbage accumulates. With water, it is transferred to the soil and transferred to people. Chemical compounds have a negative effect, affect the mental development, behavior of children. We must not allow such things to happen,” says the head of the NGO “Danube-Carpathian Program” Bohdan Prots.

“Getting up at four in the morning to come to another area to clean up other people’s garbage. What a person this must be! That’s why incredible people meet here and we won’t stop until it becomes a really clean place. And this place should be made a nature reserve”, – convinced singer and participant of the eco-picnic Alina Pash.

“If you look at the mountains, you see paradise. If you look at these mountains of garbage, you see hell. Everyone chooses whether to create heaven or hell on earth.” – says Khrystyna Shukal, singer, participant of the Chysto.de eco-picnic.
