IRF: Integration of the ecological component into the development of Rudkivska OTG

December 2, 2020

Project title:

Integration of the ecological component into the development of Rudkivska OTG

With the support of:

International Renaissance Foundation (IRF)

The duration of the project:

2020-2021

Partner:

“Ecology-People-Law”

Background:

The relevance of the topic: Rudkivska OTG (Ukrainian transliteration, it is “United Territorial Community”) is one of the largest in the Sambir County of Lviv Region (Oblast). The Rudkivska OTG has developed and approved in 2019 a strategy for the development of the united territorial community for 2019-2027. The strategy contains one of the goals for environmental safety and improvement, which is aimed at improving the environmental situation in the Rudkivska OTG. The community is working to achieve this strategic goal and has made some progress in this direction, but there is a lack of funding and expert support to achieve better and more effectively these goals. Addressing issues such as waste management and the possibility of arranging one of the most interesting objects of Rudkivska OTG, which is the large arboretum, will stimulate the tourist attractiveness of the territory, improve the quality of life, and accelerate economic development.

Tasks:

The OTG sanitation scheme will be developed within the project. The representatives of our public organization will conduct a comprehensive survey of the territory of the state dendrological park “Rudkivskyi Dendropark” and substantiate scenarios for optimization of the territory and tree plantations of the arboretum. The different scenarios will also be submitted to the local community. The information campaign within the project will include information materials in the local press, on the web pages of the applicant and the partner, in social networks.
