It’s not the grass that’s burning.

May 6, 2025
After regular fires, meadows where dozens of colorful flowers bloomed throughout the year are transformed into areas with an extremely poor species composition.
During a fire, only those species that have deep and strong roots survive. While the seeds of annuals, biennials, some perennials and the layer of dry grass that retained moisture, rotted and created a microclimate for the existence of many plants – burn.
Thus, meadows with a rich diversity of natural species are transformed into poor and uniform weed communities.
The same happens with animals – hares, hedgehogs, chicks, dozens of species of valuable insects are dying. The number of animals becomes several times smaller, giving space to invasive ants that survive deep in the soil.
The soil becomes poorer, people’s health suffers, property burns, huge funds are spent on rescuers.
It’s time to stop this barbaric tradition.
