NGO “Danube-Carpathian Program” together with foresters of Vyshkivsky forestry of “Khust Forest Research Farm” planted more than 2000 seedlings on the territory of the cross-border eco-corridor, which runs through Ukraine and Romania.
“The area we have chosen for afforestation is directly on the border line. Large predators and ungulates from Romania are actively migrating in this area, where their density is much higher than in Ukraine, ”says the project manager, Ph.D. Bogdan Prot.
Animals not only find a long shelter in this area in Ukraine, but also make short transitions to the surrounding areas in search of food. Over the past 2-3 years, the number of wild animals has begun to grow, due not only to the increase in the territory of the nature reserve fund, but also to a decrease in the level of poaching.
