Polissya is one of Europe’s largest wetland landscapes. But people’s attempts to regulate these areas have changed the rivers.
That is why a team from the non-governmental organisation ‘Danube-Carpathian Programme’, with the support of the Open Rivers Programme, is currently studying the Prypiat basin. We are working with maps and local communities, visiting sites to identify barriers, map them, and determine which can and should be removed to make the rivers of Polissya free of obstacles.
