Unique primeval forest sites, over 100 years old, were discovered during joint scientific research of primeval forests in the Lviv region by employees of the NGO “Danube-Carpathian Program” and the State Natural History Museum of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine. They have an important ecological value, since old trees are one of the main elements of the attractiveness of the landscape, a home for many species of birds, insects, mosses, and lichens. Preservation of these trees will ensure compliance with the proper environmental protection regime, maintenance of the ecological balance of the territory and increase of environmental awareness of the population.
In addition, the commission approved the initiative to create a landscape reserve of local importance “Chebretsevi Gory”, which is located within the massifs of the Brodivskyi DLHP “Galsillis”. As noted, the nature conservation facility is being created to preserve certain species of flora and fauna, which are included, in particular, in the protection lists of the Berne Convention and the Red Book of Ukraine. The total area of the nature reserve is 21 hectares.
