How to prepare delicious elderflowers

June 1, 2025

The more we add to the diet of wild plants, the less there will be a need for intensive cultivation of new land. We suggest you try the fragrant elderflower, which is just starting to bloom.

Agriculture is one of the main causes of biodiversity loss in Europe. In Ukraine, agricultural land makes up as much as 70% of the land fund. Intensive land use displaces steppes, wet meadows and other semi-natural and natural ecosystems that are home to hundreds of species.

Imagine: plowed land in a field of wheat, sunflower, lettuce or cucumbers, which are abundantly watered with pesticides – this is actually a desert for wildlife.

Wild plants – nettle, sorrel, rose hips, elderberry, dandelion, yarrow – can not only serve as food for us, but also preserve complex natural connections.

Returning to local traditions and forgotten flavors is not only interesting gastronomy and traditions, but also a strategy for preserving the wild nature around us.

Wild plants are edible fruits, nuts and seeds of plants, medicinal herbs, mushrooms, etc. that grew in a natural wild environment, and not cultivated by man.

How interesting and tasty to prepare elderflower, watch the video:
